As our daily routines have been upended, I was reflecting on how we might take advantage of the recent changes to recharge our internal batteries.  You know, make lemonade out of life’s lemons.  I recently read a great a recent Inc. article highlighting some great ways for creative people to recharge their internal batteries.  Let’s use this time wisely to refresh ourselves and prepare for the amazing turnaround that we’re in store for later this spring.

Here are some quick tips and ideas based on that article:

1. Take a walk.

Social distancing doesn’t mean having to be stuck indoors.  Take a walk around the block and stretch your legs.  Even a walk around the yard helps.

2. Do something mundane.

You probably have some things around your place that you’ve been meaning to get around to for a while.  Organize your kitchen junk drawer or purge your sock drawer.

3. Look at past work and get feedback.

Think about the work you’ve done over the past year?  What would you have done differently?  How have you grown?  What skills do you need to sharpen?

4. Play.

Online gaming is a great way to have a little fun.  And its also a way to remain connected with your colleagues and friends – Words with Friends, anyone?

5. Switch what’s around you.

It’s a great time to swap some things around at home.  Rearranging your home’s furniture is a great way to inject new energy into space!

6. Do some inner work.

Meditate.  Apps like Stop Breathe Think, Calm and Insight Timer are great tools for connecting with your inner world.

7. Try something different.

There’s no better time than now.  Try that new recipe.  Watch that new show. Who knows, you just might find a new favorite.

How are you making the most out of this time?  What tips do you have for others?  We would love to hear!
