Our History
Creative’s roots extend back to 1872 with the founding of the Everett Waddey Company. Everett Waddey grew to become a major high-quality East Coast printing and engraving company, with many important clients, including The Office of the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
In the 1920’s, as the firm grew to employ hundreds of Richmonders, Mr. Waddey built a visionary and state-of-the-art facility in downtown Richmond. Most notably, this building included a commons and roof terrace exclusively for the use and recreation of the employees. He understood the connection between an uplifting and human-centered workplace and employee wellbeing. He knew that supporting employee health and wellbeing was not only the right thing to do, but also the best way to get the most from his people.
The business grew and evolved to include high-quality office supplies and workplace furnishings. In 1995, Bob DeLille purchased the firm, and we became Creative. While our product offering has evolved to support the changing needs of our clients, our commitment to creating high-quality spaces that elevate the human spirit remains strong. In 2016, Bob began to his focus to building the next generation of business for Creative, along with making more time for endeavors that he is passionate about. Today, Debbie Lennick is our role of Chief Sales Officer and co-owner, and Carl Hooper has assumed the role of President and is responsible for the day to day general management of Creative.
